Support Group Blog: Fibrohaven Blog

Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1997, I have been learning to live well with it ever since. The first step was accepting that my life would be different. Then I had to learn to embrace the new me, and all that I still have to offer. It hasn't been easy, but I hope that by writing about my journey, you will feel more understood, and recognize that you are valuable, and you are not alone.

Support Group Mission:

Fibromyalgia Haven is a North San Diego County group where sufferers of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain conditions can come together to learn, laugh, love, and above all - live.

We will work on managing the bad flare-ups and also on managing the moments in           between; the moments in which we still suffer from the pains and symptoms of chronic illness, but in which we can and should live to the fullest.

Meeting Days and Time-

Our Roundtable Social Meeting is on the 1st Thursday of each month. Roundtable events range from luncheons, to coffee socials and book reviews, to documentary viewings. This is an afternoon meeting from 1:30-3:30PM. Location varies.

Our Educational Meeting is the 3rd Wednesday of each monthWe have a guest speaker on any number of topics focused on managing and living better with Fibromylagia and Chronic Pain/Illness. This is an evening meeting from 6-8PM, held at Tri-City Wellness Center in Carlsbad, CA.

FibroHaven Online Community: FibroHaven on Facebook

We have a plan. To create a community of understanding and support for everyone with Fibromyalgia. To help you feel understood and hopeful. We think it is a good plan. Hope you do too.

What Members Are Saying

"Dannette called the group "a bunch of scientists" once and that's a pretty apt description. Very rarely have I ever run into people who were so interested in learning without having a (well at least I didn't sense one...) hidden agenda. The people were kind and generous with both listening and talking and the interaction is a lot of fun. It is very obvious to me that Dannette nurtures this group and puts a lot of careful thought into how to best meet the needs of the members. The people who have joined the support group but have not yet attended a function are really missing out. This truly is a support group. "

"It gives a sense of peace and comradery to know that others are going through similar things and that we're there to support each other."

"You'll be in good and understanding company. Everyone with FMS needs that!"

"If you're looking for information and encouragement this is a group you'll want to check out. Everyone brings an aspect of FM to the table that is helpful."

"It was a very comfortable setting and I felt extremely welcome even though this was my first meeting. I didn’t feel like an outcast and everyone there understands the pain and daily difficulties we all go through."

"I am hopeful for the future of the group. I am hopeful that we will all get something out of our meetings to improve our health and our coping skills. I am hopeful that each of us will experience a betterment in our quality of life. I am hopeful that the group continues to grow and that each new member finds it a place of compassion and understanding. I am hopeful. It feels nice to have hope."
