What is the purpose of the new membership program?

The NFA recently reached out to the fibromyalgia community through an online survey to identify new ways that we could be more responsive to your needs. We learned that you want additional resources that are easily accessible, interactive and informative. To meet these requests, we have established our new Online Membership program. The program allows the FM community to: 1) Have access to resources and information through more interactive formats; 2) Become a member of the NFA at a lower cost than the organization’s past membership program; and 3)Support the NFA during these difficult financial times.

I am one of those persons who have valued the information I have obtained from your website but do not have the money, or even a charge card, to become a member in order to continue receiving this needed information.

The NFA will continue to provide an extensive amount of excellent, up-to-date information free to all registered users on our website. You will also continue to receive new information electronically at no cost. The NFA is committed to helping everyone in the FM community.

I’ve always enjoyed FMOnline but I can’t afford the $25 membership fee.

We realize that there are individuals with fibromyalgia who will be unable to afford the membership fee. We will continue to directly serve them through new information on our website and one-on-one phone assistance as well as electronic communication, including our new Fibromyalgia News and Resources update.

Why does the NFA have to charge a membership fee?

The NFA does not receive any government assistance for the services it provides. We must raise all funds to carry out our efforts, which include patient assistance and education, physician education, advocacy, and the facilitation of research. For those who are able, we hope they will become an Online Member, not only receive good information but to help support everyone affected by fibromyalgia.

About Fibromyalgia AWARE Magazine, why can’t you sell the magazine at a much lower price?

The cost of producing, printing and distributing a magazine is expensive. At this time, the subscription and advertising fees do not cover the costs. Therefore, we had to make a decision—charge a higher fee or not produce the magazine. We hope to be able to reduce this price in the future.
