"The Role of the OB/GYN in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Fibromyalgia"
The National Fibromyalgia Association has partnered with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine to develop “The Role of the OB/GYN in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Fibromyalgia,” a CME program for obstetrics and gynecology professionalsthat will be held on Oct. 3, 2009, in Universal City, California. Registration and breakfast will be from 8 - 9 am and the program will run from 9 - 11 am. The focus of this course will be to help OB/GYNs become more comfortable in diagnosing fibromyalgia (FM) and increase their knowledge about advances in treatment modalities. Participants will receive an overview of FM and current approaches to symptom management, as well as a review of obstacles to patients receiving timely diagnosis and treatment consistent with current scientific knowledge. Daniel R. Mishell, Jr., MD, a renowned gynecologist from the University of Southern California will serve as the moderator of the session. Robert Bennett, MD, FRCP, FACP, MACR, a rheumatologist and prominent FM expert and researcher from the Oregon Health and Science University, along with Patrick Wood, MD, a well-published fibromyalgia researcher and family practice physician at Pacific Rheumatology Associates, will present this dynamic program.
