Problems for Problem Children
According to a study published in a recent online edition of Rheumatology, children with behavioral problems may be at increased risk for chronic pain when they become adults.
The study looked at close to 20,000 people and found that those who’d had severe behavior disturbances between the ages of 11 and 16 were about twice as likely to have chronic widespread pain by the time they reached age 45. Researchers believe this may be the result of childhood dysfunction in the interaction between the nervous system and hormones.
