NFA QuestionsCategory: FibromyalgiaCovid19 Moderna Vaccination
Johnna Worster asked 2 years ago

I have fibromyalgia and I just received the 2nd Moderna vaccine on April 9. I had ZERO issues with the first one, no sore arm even. I had no problems with the 2nd one either…..until today….4 days later. Today is April 13 and I can’t get warm, my body aches like it has been run over by a herd of angry cattle and my head just aches. I am on Lovenox so I can’t take ibuprofen and I also can’t take Tylenol. I have so many issues right now that I just wasn’t prepared for this much more pain. I have had 7 surgeries on my left knee since December 2, 2019, and my latest was on January 24, 2021. I have spent months in the hospital and rehab and months on antibiotics and now will be on antibiotics for the rest of my life. Please, can you give me some kind of amount of time that this issue usually lasts with the Covid vaccination so that I can know when I can get some relief from this? I have been reading what your people have been saying and it is so depressing to think that I may have to go through this for 12 or more days.I am already in so much pain already that I am on morphine and dilapidated.Help!!!

Hi, I too have been suffering from my 2nd dose of the Moderna vaccine. I got it on 4/6 and was fine but my the second day I started feeling fatigue and then the body aches. By day 5 I went into a full blown flare up. I saw my rheumatologist on the 15th and was told that she’s seen a pattern in fibromyalgia patients after the full vaccine. I was told to take time off of work to rest and let my body go through the immunity process of the vaccine. I’m still in pain. But I was able to get time off from work with a doctors note. I’m sorry you are going through this as well. I hope you feel better soon.

I will be getting my second dose tomorrow afternoon. Reading what others have to say, I have to admit I am a little nervous. I will absolutely take it, but I do worry. Fingers crossed!

It’s been 60 days since my second Moderna shot (March 10th) and my fibro is getting worse. The pain at the injection site is a dead giveaway that the flare ups are due to the vaccine.. My pain was well managed for four years before this. I’m pretty bummed out that the vaccine has set me back big time. I’m going to ride it out another 60 days before I try adjusting my meds. Hopefully my immune system will even out by then.
